How Amy Lost 70 Pounds in 10 Months Without Exercise (Interview)
Hi! Tell us about yourself…why did you decide to start losing weight?
I knew I needed to lose weight. After having my daughter in 2016, I slowly slipped into the bad habits of getting take out most nights of the week due to it being easy, and we couldn’t find a proper routine! She’s now 4, and I knew I couldn’t blame it on being baby weight anymore. I needed to lose the weight for her, just as much as I did myself!
What did you do for exercise when you started? Did you change it up throughout your journey?
Throughout my weight journey, I haven’t really exercised as such! I walk daily, taking my daughter to and from school, I have quite a physical job as I work in health care, but apart from this, I haven’t done any other exercise! It’s all been done by changing my diet and eating more fruits and vegetables!
What did you do for nutrition when you started? Did you change it up throughout your journey?

I followed a diet called Slimming World! I eat more now than I’ve ever eaten before, and I still enjoy chocolate and pizza like any person would! I just include a lot more fruit and vegetables into my diet, and make healthy swaps where possible. For example, carrot chips instead of potato! It’s a really easy way of getting more veg into your daily diet!
How did you stay mentally strong when it was tough? Did you ever give up? How did you recover?
Don’t get me wrong, some days I struggled. There were days when I thought I can’t do this anymore, but I remembered why I started, and the feeling of buying smaller clothes and seeing the weight literally drop off me! Stay strong, stay focused, and remember why you started. Find your WHY and you’ll never look back!
Did you use any sort of trackers/apps/scales to track your progress?
I swear by my Apple Watch! I make sure I close all my rings daily, so if that means getting out for a small walk to get those extra steps in, then that’s what I’ll do!

Personally, it took about 5 or 6 months for me to notice any change in myself. Others started to notice in about 12 weeks. Once you see it yourself, it makes you want to carry on!
Do you have any “hacks” or “secrets” that helped you succeed?
I truly believe there aren’t any hacks or tricks to losing weight. You have to want it. As I said, find your WHY and you’ll never look back!
What advice would you give to beginners who are looking to lose weight?
Some days are hard; really hard! But I promise you, once you start to see and feel the change in yourself, it’ll push you! You’ll want it more than ever and I promise you it’s worth it once you reach your end goal!

Instagram has been my lifesaver? Whenever I’ve struggled for motivation, new recipes, etc… there’s always someone on the same journey as yourself on there! Such an amazing place to meet new people and connect over something so personal!
