How I Lost 87 Pounds In 8 Months With Bright Line Eating
Hi! Tell us about yourself…why did you decide to start losing weight?
Hi! I’m a momma bear and married to the hottest/funniest/sweetest man ever. I know it’s a cliche but my family is my life! I love helping others and as a mom, feeling needed and putting others first makes us feel like we’re doing it right, so there was no self-care anywhere near me. As a kid and teenager, I was very active with volleyball, basketball, and softball. Weight was never an issue! But my first year of college that all changed. No more sports to keep me active and burn off the garbage I was eating plus I added alcohol so I gained and gained.
By not-recommended-ways I lost 80lbs. But I gained it back plus 30. So after a year or so of being miserable in my body, my husband and I decided to get hardcore into CrossFit. It was awesome, I lost 50lbs, was feeling and looking great….and then I got pregnant and bye-bye gym time and healthy habits. This momma ate whatever cravings she had (mainly all fast food or carbs) and of course, the weight plus some added on.
After the baby girl was born, I had enough! I was done with the up and down cycle of weight gain and loss. I was done with feeling like shit every morning. I was done with being an unhealthy example. I was done with the self-hate. I wanted a realistic lifestyle change and I wanted a major mental health change.
I was introduced to Bright Line Eating and after losing 50 lbs I started weight lifting 4-5 times a week. I’ve lost 83 lbs so far and I’m in the best place mentally! I’m so grateful I started my journey.
What was your workout routine? Can you give us what a typical week looked like for you working out?
After I lost 50 lbs I wanted to get back into fitness. I have a decent history with exercise so I felt comfortable jumping back in. I started working out at home 3 days a week. YouTube was a great resource for me in the early days of my fitness journey. There are so many workout videos for all skill levels!

Every week I kept showing up for myself, trying to up my weights or push myself to train longer. I wanted to prove what a badass I knew I was. Currently, I work out 4-5 times a week for an average of 30 minutes. I also create and run fitness challenges with 50+ badass babes! I have kettlebells, dumbbells, resistance bands, a box step and I do a bunch of bodyweight workouts. All at home! CrossFit, Kickboxing, Zumba, and playing sports are my favorite ways to exercise. I definitely do CrossFit/weight lifting workouts the most.
What was your nutrition like? Can you give us what a typical day of eating looked like?
When I first started my weight loss journey I followed Bright Line Eating and didn’t deviate from the meal plan. Bright Line Eating is a weight loss program targeted at food addicts but works for anyone! Basically, it’s no sugar or flour, 3 meals a day/no snacking, and weighed out portions. It has a heavy emphasis on mental health too.
Healing your body and mind. You get grains in the mornings and the protein portion is the standard “diet” size of 4 oz each meal. You get 6 oz of fruit at breakfast and lunch. The veggie portion is insane but really does make you feel amazing! You end up eating 20 oz of veggies a day. The meals are bigger than you’d expect but getting used to not snacking was tough. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods have become my best friends because they have so many pasta and bread alternatives!
Now I do an 80/20 rule with sugar and flour. I always stick to 3 meals a day/no snacking and mindful portion sizes but 20% of the time I’ll allow a “cheat meal” where I’m not restricting myself of sugar and flour. I’m still losing weight and have found much more peace around food.
A typical day would be the following:
Breakfast – savory waffle (hashbrowns, sausage, egg, and cheese in a waffle maker) and a fruit.
Lunch – cauliflower crust pizza, side salad with ranch, and fruit.
Dinner – air fryer chicken wings and grilled asparagus

How did you stay motivated to lose weight? Did you ever slip up?
I stay motivated by starting each day as a new chance to get closer to my goals. I don’t worry about what happened yesterday, all of my focus is on the now and how I can be my best right now.
I also think that when you get to a certain point, when you KNOW you have to make a change, the motivation is constantly there. I talk to myself differently, I love myself now. Compared to where my mental health was, that’s enough motivation to last a lifetime for me!
When did you start to notice progress?
I really started to see progress about 3 months in. My clothes started fitting looser and I just felt more comfortable in chairs and on the couch.
Then I took progress pictures and couldn’t believe the difference! Looking at my 3-month progress pictures was my big “holy shit I lost weight” moment.
Did you use any sort of trackers/apps/scales to track your progress?
I use various ways to track my progress. I do body measurements, progress pictures, weigh myself on a scale, and I use an Apple Watch for fitness information.
Do you have any weight loss “hacks” or “secrets” that helped you succeed?
Here are my quick tips that helped me succeed:
Drinking a gallon (or as close as you can) of water a day will have huge impacts on your hunger.
Eating 3 meals a day and no snacking has made a big difference in my weight loss. Allowing 4-6 hours between meals gives you a bigger fasting period.
Writing in a gratitude journal and practicing daily affirmations. This makes a huge difference for your mental health!
What is your best advice to beginners who are looking to lose weight?
The best advice I would give someone is to focus on one day at a time. Don’t worry about what you’ll be doing in a year from now. You don’t live there. You live in the present and that’s the only thing you can control. So focus on having your best day today. And eventually, those days will add up to incredible changes.
