How This Mom Lost 42 Pounds In 6 Months With Herbalife

Hi! Tell us about yourself…why did you decide to start losing weight?

I began my weight loss journey while I was 6 months postpartum. I just had my second child and I still hadn’t been able to lose any weight, not even a little “baby weight”. I was unmotivated and self-conscious of my physical appearance which in turn messed with my mental health, creating depression and low self-esteem.

I took a chance and combined Herbalife Nutrition and exercise, and within 6 months of staying consistent, I lost all the weight. Most of the weight was lost in the first 2 months and then it continued. I actually worked out in my garage after the baby went to sleep, all during quarantine due to the pandemic and having to work from home. NO EXCUSES.

What was your workout routine? Can you give us what a typical week looked like for you working out?

At the beginning of my journey, around the first couple of months, I only focused solely on cardio and full-body HIIT workouts by joining live zoom workouts with my Herbalife team. Again, in my garage at night at the beginning of the pandemic. I would also go out and run or walk for 30 mins. Once I started seeing results, and the gyms finally opened back up, I started going to the gym and incorporating weight training.

Now that I lost all my weight and more, I am focused on toning up and building muscle. I have gained 10 pounds of muscle so far. I workout 5-6x a week. Mon-Fri/Sat. I do legs/glutes 3x a week and push/pull days on the other ⅔ depending on if I go for 6 days. Lower body days can take me anywhere from 1-2 hours maybe more depending on how long my warm-ups are including my regular workout.

My upper body days are normally 1 hour and a half. Exercise is only 20% of our results and nutrition is 80% which means, if you only focus on exercise but neglect your nutrition, you will probably not get optimal results.

What was your nutrition like? Can you give us what a typical day of eating looked like?

I follow Herbalife Nutrition. Just to give you a little background info about Herbalife, it has been in the market for 40 years and it’s in more than 91 countries. The products are backed up by many scientists and doctors, one of them being a Nobel Prize winner for medicine (only nutrition company with such recognition at that).

Our products are used by many pro athletes too! One of them is Cristiano Ronaldo but importantly the products worked on me and those around me as well. It’s super simple! 2 Shakes a day, 3 healthy meals, and 2-3 healthy snacks a day is all you need! The products taste amazing and they come in many different flavors.

Aside from the products, I eat healthy meals which include protein, carbs, and veggies. I don’t neglect carbs and I make sure to stay within my caloric intake, currently 1500 calories since I am trying to gain muscle. When I was trying to lose weight, I would eat around 12-1300 calories a day. The only supplements I use are Herbalife.

The Tea gives you energy and speeds up the metabolism and burns calories. The aloe helps with digestion and cleanses you internally. The shake will provide all the nutrients and vitamins that you need from a perfectly balanced meal. I also highly rely on our belly fat burning abs enhancer called Prolessa which targets stubborn belly fat & controls hunger.

How did you stay motivated to lose weight? Did you ever slip up?

I make sure to listen to personal development podcasts or read books every day to get my mind focused and stay on track with my goals. I also have a team of friends and business partners who all keep each other accountable. I recommend the book the 10x Rule

When did you start to notice progress?

I started to notice progress right away after a month. My clothes started fitting better and I went down 2 pants sizes in the first month. I had tons of energy and again, I had an 8 mo baby at the time plus a 6-year-old so I needed to keep up. A lot of people at work started to notice and I was feeling more confident.

Did you use any sort of trackers/apps/scales to track your progress?

I had a coach with who I worked within the beginning who tracked my progress monthly. I would send her my before/after pics and I would weigh in every 2 weeks as well. She played a huge part in keeping me motivated and on track. She would send me weekly motivational quotes, meal plans and would text me regularly.

Do you have any weight loss “hacks” or “secrets” that helped you succeed?

I found that staying consistent with my meal replacement shakes, eating healthy, and sticking to my daily routine really helped. Also, making sure I did everything at the same time every day also helped me stay motivated. My body was adjusting to a new routine and it allowed me to create a healthy habit. I’d say to challenge yourself for 21 days, which is how long it takes to create a habit, and you will notice changes physically and mentally.

Do you have any fitness books/podcasts/websites that you’d recommend and why?

I recommend the 10x rule book for motivation. I also recommend listening to a podcast or a motivational youtube video first thing in the morning for some personal development.

I personally like listening to Jim Rohn, Quote of the day show podcast, Eric Thomas, Claire Smith, and Ben Lionel Scott.

I feel that once you learn to incorporate personal development into your routine, you not only change your mindset and get motivated, you also get the urge to do better and feel better. You get a drive and all the excuses you have go out the window. Wake up with a positive mindset and the rest of the day will go accordingly. Daily positive self-affirmations are also great. Write them down or say them out loud every day. Learn to love yourself no matter what.

What is your best advice to beginners who are looking to lose weight?

I’d say stop overthinking and start doing! The excuses we tell ourselves every day are just that, excuses. Only we believe the excuses we are telling. It’s never going to be easy, because nothing is easy, if it was it wouldn’t be worth it. Lastly, get comfortable with getting uncomfortable and challenge yourself physically and mentally.

Changes don’t happen overnight, and the only way you will see results is if you start and keep going. Results will come, as long as you don’t stop. Keep pushing yourself because I promise it will be so worth it in the end. Most importantly do it for YOU and not for anyone else.
