“The first change in my perspective that helped me realize that I am important, and my health matters. My focus was no longer on “losing weight” but on becoming healthier instead.
Artemis’s fitness journey all started with a holiday gift. For Christmas in 2016, her mom and step-dad gifted her a Fitbit Charge 2 and told her she could use it to start losing weight. 60 pounds and 18 months later, she’s as fit as ever.
Once I ditched the excuses, the ones you know all too well – you “have no time”, are “too tired”, etc. that’s when you really start making progress. It was up to me to own up to my excuses and make a change.
“At 31 I was morbidly obese and was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I felt awful. That’s when I thought: ENOUGH is ENOUGH. My doctor advised weight loss surgery. After a lot of going back and forth, I decided to get it done and give it my absolute ALL!”
I knew I had to lose this weight for my children, they are my inspiration and the reason I have kept going. I want to be able to watch them grow up and be there for them throughout their life, being obese to the extent I was, was really jeopardizing that.
The day I realized I needed to make a change was the day I couldn’t keep up with my kids. I remember them outpacing me, that was the moment I vowed to lose weight, so I could be healthy for them.
I knew I needed to lose weight. After having my daughter in 2016, I needed to lose the weight for her, just as much as I did myself!
