How This Mom Lost 95 Pounds With WW

Hi! Tell us about yourself…why did you decide to start losing weight?

After a really long struggle with anxiety and depression and constantly worrying about my health and what my future might look like I decided I needed to make a change and I was the only one who could do that for myself. After seeing other people have success with WW (Weight Watchers) I decided to join. I made an Instagram account and tracked my progress. I also started following other accounts on Instagram which was one of my biggest motivators. Seeing people just like me who were doing it gave me so much hope.

Another big motivator for me was that I wanted to start a family soon and I knew to be the best mom I could be I needed to work on my health. I am so thankful every day that I did.

What was your workout routine? Can you give us what a typical week looked like for you working out?

In the beginning, the only workout I did was walk. I would walk about 1-2 miles 4-5 days a week. I started incorporating at home workouts occasionally but really just kept with the walking. I am not a runner but I do a pretty high inclined/fast-paced walk on the treadmill as well when I am at the gym.

I am now going to the gym about 4-5 days a week and doing about 30 minutes of cardio along with different workouts depending on the day (legs, arms, abs). I have been loving my gym time every week and I’m feeling so much stronger and leaner. I really want to work on my strength this year and getting into the best shape of my life.

What was your nutrition like? Can you give us what a typical day of eating looked like?

When starting my weight loss journey I focused on nutrition more than anything because I knew it is where I was going to lose my weight. I had to change the way I was eating completely. I started altering recipes that I made in the past and cutting my portion sizes in half.

I am not a big breakfast person so I typically just have coffee for breakfast. I will eat a snack around 10:30 usually beef jerky, a cheese stick, or fruit. I eat a light lunch around 1. Normally protein and veggies or leftovers from the night before. I also love soups for lunch. We cook something for dinner every night at home. I love trying out different recipes. We eat a lot of quesadillas, tacos, chicken, soups, salads, even homemade pizza.

I also always have something sweet before bed, sometimes a protein bar. Sometimes low-calorie ice cream.

How did you stay motivated to lose weight? Did you ever slip up?

Instagram was a very motivating place for me. I followed a ton of accounts going through the same weight loss journey and seeing their success was so helpful. When others started noticing and would make comments that were also very motivating to me. To see that my hard work was paying off.

I would have bad days from time to time but I would just wake right back up the next morning and get right back to it. One bad day or even week is not going to undo all of the progress you have made. Keep going and pushing through.

When did you start to notice progress?

I started seeing progress on the scale instantly. Because I had so much to lose I lost the first little bit pretty quickly. I didn’t notice much in pictures or others didn’t notice until I had lost about 40 lbs which was about 4.5 months into my journey.

Did you use any sort of trackers/apps/scales to track your progress?

I tracked every in the WW app. I am on the blue plan. The app is so helpful when keeping up with my points and activity. I also tracked my progress on the Instagram page. I would post my weigh-ins and different meals that I would eat.

Do you have any weight loss “hacks” or “secrets” that helped you succeed?

Water water water, I notice a huge difference when I get in my water for the day. When I feel hungry but know I shouldn’t be it typically means I am thirsty.

Also eating a cheat meal from time to time when my body weight would stall always seemed to help jumpstart my weight loss again.

Do you have any fitness books/podcasts/websites that you’d recommend and why?

I love Pinterest when looking for recipe ideas and workout ideas. It was always so much fun looking each week and trying out a different recipe.

What is your best advice to beginners who are looking to lose weight?

Don’t wait another second. Jump all in. It’s hard but it’s so so worth it. Take it one day at a time. Consistency is EVERYTHING.
